Northern Art

The purpose of my project was to showcase the talents of various young people living in the Northeast. I did this by making prints that showcase various pieces of art made by people I am close to that live in the area and edit them to tell a certain story. The talents I included are poetry, music scrapbooking, knitting and photography.

Poetry

For the poetry print I wanted to show that the art of poetry can take a long time and there may be a lot of trial and error getting it to the point that the writer may want but there is always light at the end of the tunnel and if you keep going you can get to the point that you want. The light can also be interpreted more literally in that writers may work late into the night even to the point where they work until the sun comes up.

Music

Working on music is something I have personal experience with so I was able to create this with personal experience in mind. Many people use music to help them get through a dark time and so that is what the shadow represents in this image. The scrunched up paper here is to represent the trial and error of the craft, similarly to what I portrayed in the previous print.
This one is also supposed to be a promotional poster just to make it clear that the product is about the North East.

Scrapbooking

I wanted this print to portray the beginning of the creative process. The haziness is to represent all of the ideas that come to mind when thinking about how to make it look good and how sometimes so many ideas come to mind that it can be overwhelming.

Knitting

I wanted this print to show the results of the skill or talent in use. The haze, being pink this time, is to represent a kind of joy that is felt after successfully creating a piece/

Photography

For the final print I wanted to show another piece of art being displayed and also decided to show the camera used to take the photo since it is a fairly simple camera to show that people can use their talents even with limited equipment.
